Your pages are copied to servers around the world and served from the nearest one. A busy day, or someone sharing you in a Facebook group, doesn't slow it down. And there's no one else's site on the same box making yours crawl.
The padlock's handled
SSL is the certificate that puts https and the padlock in the address bar. Browsers warn people off sites without it. Ours is free, automatic, and renews itself. You'll never get an expiry email.
Nothing to hack
Most small business sites are WordPress, which needs its plugins updated every week and is where most hacks happen. Ours are plain pages. There's no login screen for a bot to guess at and no database to pinch.
The host is Netlify. It's what we run our own sites on, it's fast from New Zealand, and companies a lot bigger than us trust it. Traffic is unlimited, so a busy month costs the same as a quiet one. If the site ever goes down we get told before you notice.

- What if JB Designs disappears?
- The domain's in your name and you can have the site files any time. The site keeps running, and any web person could move it in an hour.
